Wake up for Wildlife is a WIRES Wildife Rescue community event that invites individuals to host their own Wake Up event and raise funds to support the 24/7 WIRES Wildlife Rescue Service.
Often referred to as 'the triple zero for wildlife', this crucial service serves as a lifeline for sick, injured and orphaned native Australian animals. Once rescued, these animals are brought into WIRES' care for rehabilitation, preparing them for their eventual release back into the wild...where they belong!
The WIRES Wildlife Rescue Office is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Every day, WIRES receives hundreds of urgent rescue requests.
WIRES co-ordinates over 3,000 volunteers to help rescue and rehabilitate native animals.
WIRES has a growing team of Emergency Responders with fully equipped Wildlife Ambulances.

Australia is facing a wildlife crisis, with over 1,900 native species now under threat of extinction. Time is of the essence to safeguard our iconic native animals, including koalas which are now listed as Endangered in many parts of Australia. Environmental pressures are exacerbating risks to wildlife health and survival. Each native animal that WIRES rescues, rehabilitates, and releases back into their habitat plays a vital role in mitigating this pressing extinction challenge.
