Walk on the Wild Side 2025

My target 150 kms

Why am I walking 150km this April?

As a wildlife photographer, I’m usually the one sneaking around in the bushes trying to get that perfect shot.

But this time, I’m out in the open, walking 150km to raise funds for the incredible native creatures that make Australia so wild and wonderful.

If you want to keep seeing photos of koalas being cute, kangaroos being weird, and wombats just vibing—help me protect their habitats.

Donate now, so I can keep snapping and they can keep napping.

My Updates

150km ✅

Wednesday 30th Apr
Last day of the challenge and my last 3km! One might think I meticulously planned out the month to achieve my target, and I don’t feel particularly compelled to admit that I wasn’t entirely sure a week ago if I’ll make it 😅

A slightly underwhelming final update as well, with my macbook back at the doctor’s (it’s been a challenging month on so many levels!), it looks like I can’t even post a photo of my celebratory bubble tea treat.

Many thanks to all the support and donations! ❤️

A little rest for the legs

Saturday 26th Apr
Yesterday I gave my legs a little rest and booked a kayak for three hours to visit the Dolphin Sanctuary in Port Adelaide. I didn’t spot any dolphins, but it was beautifully relaxing to paddle through mangroves.

A still raked up a few kms walking around the Adelaide Bird Sanctuary and with a 15k run today. Possible lead up to another run soon…? 🤫

Run and walk with the local wildlife

Tuesday 22nd Apr
Yesterday I thought I'd make up some kms with a 5k run around Oaklands Wetlands Reserve after taking my camera for a spin first. I was lucky to find Musk Lorikeets on eye level for once, usually they are up high in the trees and pretty difficult to photograph.

If that wasn't enough, I visited Strut Gorge for an afternoon walk. I spotted two koalas. People might think they are everywhere in Australia, but I have been here for over 6 months and seen 9 in total, and I do go out specifically looking for wildlife A LOT.

Koalas, like many native animals, are becoming critically endangered in many parts of Australia. Help protect them by donating to WIRES :)

Activities logged!

Monday 21st Apr
Technology keeps refusing to be on my side this month, so despite connecting my Fitbit, I still had to log my April activities manually.

A combination of bush walks, city explorations and running took me just over half way. I'll probably have to pick up the pace a little!

Photo of my 8k run from Brighton Beach to St Kilda, Melbourne.
