Support my walk to save and protect our wildlife

This April, I am taking part in Walk on the Wild Side to support our scaly, furry and feathered friends.

Australian native animals are in crisis. More than 1,900 of our plant and animal species are threatened with extinction, including our iconic koalas, which are now endangered in many parts of Australia.

I'm conquering this challenge to raise funds for WIRES to give sick, injured and orphaned native animals their second chance of life in the wild.

Every year, WIRES responds to almost 150,000 urgent calls for help and assistance for animals in distress.

Your donation will ensure they can continue to rescue, rehabilitate and release our native wildlife and fund critical rescues and life-saving care.

Please DONATE NOW and support my challenge to save and protect our wildlife.

My Updates

The sun sets on the final day of April

Thursday 1st May
As the sun set on the final day of April, I went for a final sunset walk near Mallala to wrap things up for the month. Thank you so much to everybody who has supported me in my efforts to fundraise for WIRES and the awesome work they do!

Urban wandering: local drains

Friday 25th Apr
Walking is not just for footpaths! Usually dry draining season would be well and truly over by now, but the drought has given us a few extra months

Out wandering the hills

Tuesday 22nd Apr
My lovely friend Matthew is visiting from Melbourne and we went for a lovely little wander in the hills yesterday, annoying the autumnal weather than has finally arrived!

Walking the ripped up train line between the Marne River bridges near Cambrai

Sunday 20th Apr
These two railway bridges across the Marne River were built in approx. 1912 and formed part of the old Monarto - Sedan railway line. It was used to transport grain from the Cambrai silos, as well as timber and other products from Sedan. During the 189 km long Swan Reach to Paskeville pipeline construction in the 1960s the line was also used to transport pipes and supplies. Most of the line in this region was closed and removed in the early 1970s, but the bridges and ridges where the old line ran are still standing.

Sunrise on the murray

Sunday 20th Apr
Saturday morning walk from our campsite along the banks of the Murray River and across the ferry before dawn

Early bird

Friday 18th Apr
The early bird catching a few rays of sun on my morning walk

City wandering

Monday 14th Apr
Did some nighttime loops around the river in town this evening with a friend to get some steps in for the cause. What a beautiful evening! I also increased the distance I am aiming for to 150kms, as I believe I can get there!

Crevice dragon at Morialta

Monday 14th Apr
Alas I could not make it to the group hike this week - but I did manage to get out for a little walk around Morialta, and saw this little crevice dragon up on the path near Giant's Cave

Para Wirra

Friday 11th Apr
Yesterday's walk around the beautiful lake near my campsite at Para Wirra conservation park was a lovely way to wind down after a full day at uni.

Tawny frogmouths at the park

Wednesday 9th Apr
Some examples of the wonderful wildlife I'm walking to help protect and preserve. Tawny frogmouths in their favourite local tree, introduced to me by my wonderful teammate Lily on our afternoon walk the other day after uni :)

Evening walk

Monday 7th Apr
A little wander after an afternoon anaesthetising and health checking wallabies, to get some fresh air before settling in to study for tomorrow's equine exam

Late night run under the stars

Thursday 3rd Apr
Late at night and early morning are definitely my favourite running times. Quite a beautiful starscape this evening, despite all the light pollution in my current inner-suburbs oval location ✨ Thank you to everyone who has donated so far for your generosity and support!

Goat and alpaca day, featuring Tina the Terrifying

Wednesday 2nd Apr
A big thank you to the folks who have donated so far! Today most of my day's kms were clocked running around after goats and alpacas for health checks, blood draws, and faecal samples (checking for strongyles, wormy parasites, through counting their eggs), topped off with a little jog at sunset. Featured here is everyone's favourite campus alpaca legend Tina, who has been terrifying veterinary students professionally for many years with her stubborn fury, spits, and kicks, with hopefully many more years of terror to come!
