Help us feed the hungry

Every year WIRES spends almost $500,000 on nourishing food for wildlife in care.
And every year we see an alarming increase in those hungry mouths (particularly in Spring!) as more and more native animals have need of our urgent rescue and care.

Please dig deep on WIRES Giving Day and help us provide life-giving, supplementary food for thousands of rescued native animals in urgent need.
Together, we'll be giving rescued native animals their second chance in the wild!

Even better – our Wildlife Food Partner Woolworths has offered to match all donations on the day up to a total value of $50,000 – so your $25 donation will be increased to $50 doubling the amount of food for wildlife!

a better deal for native aNIMALS

The native animals who come into care truly have nothing. They've borne the brunt of relentless habitat loss, making them more vulnerable to starvation, heat stress, extreme weather, and the daily horrors of our human-dominated world.

Our Giving Day will give rescued native animals the dedicated care and nutritious food they need for a second chance of life in the wild. It's one step towards a better and fairer future for Australian wildlife – and you can help!

how you'll be making a difference

Your support will help us feed rescued native animals during the rehabilitation period so they can be returned to life in the wild.

Helping to answer the call for wildlife

During the last year, WIRES Wildlife Carers responded to over 130,000 calls for rescue of sick, injured and orphaned native animals. Without the intervention and care provided by WIRES, many of these animals would not have survived their challenging circumstances.

supporting our Wildlife Carers

Spring and summer are the busiest months for our Wildlife Carers, as they are frequently overwhelmed with young joeys in need of care. The rehabilitation period for many species can last up to 18 months - that's a long time to feed hungry mouths!

Providing food for desperate wildlife

Feeding animals in care varies considerably from species to species, food types to brands, and across different ages. The wildlife food cost can be exorbitant, and that cost can increases twofold in the event of a disaster.
