I’m fundraising to help orphaned kangaroo joeys
Volunteers in the WIRES Hawkesbury Branch rescue and care for a large number of orphaned kangaroos, wallabies and wallaroos. These joeys require around the clock care that includes frequent bottle feeds (up to 6 times a day). Many joeys require heat support from a special humidicrib. Joeys need different purpose built enclosures as they grow, to provide enough space to hop long distances to prepare them for life back in the bush. Wildlife volunteers raise small mobs of joeys together so that they develop friendships and support networks. These mobs are in care for a year before they are are released into the wild.Â
All donations from this fundraiser will help volunteers continue this important work and cover the cost of the following;
1. Hay
2. Feeding equipment - teats and bottles
3. Humidicrib
4. Bedding, pouches and blankets
5. Enclosures and sheltersÂ
6. Rescue equipment
7. Turf
